Evolution is often defined by evolutionists as “change over time”. This, of course is a very broad definition and could not be opposed by any thinking scientist since many things continually change in the real world. As a Creationist, however, I separate this definition into two parts to explain how some evolutionary processes are part of the Creation model. Macroevolution is the process that has dead chemicals developing into living systems and then mutating and changing during billions of years into all the different kinds of plants and animals alive today. This includes the broad changes of one kind of an animal into a different kind. . Look at all the different kinds of dogs, yet they remain dogs and don't breed with cats to make cats. This is often called “molecules to man” evolution. These kinds of broad changes NEVER happen in nature. (See http://www.sixdaycreation.com/july2001.html, http://www.sixdaycreation.com/may2001.html) There is, however, kind of evolution animals called Microevolution that is an essential part of the creation model. Creationists believe that God created the original kinds of animals with a maximum genetic diversity. This would include both the dominant and recessive gene in every case in the first breeding pair. This breeding pair could then produce ALL the variety of a kind of animal without adding any new genetic information. For example a pair of dogs would represent the dog kind including wolves, coyotes, dingoes, etc. Not two Great Danes, two Poodles, two Dachshund, two Timber Wolves, two Chihuahua, two whatever... So as a creationist I would say I believe in evolution when it is confined to the genetic limits of each kind of creature but I would be certain to limit to the created kinds. In fact we must have this kind of rapid change after the flood to get the incredible variety we see today.
