Charlie’s Biblical Education Dialogue with you!
Most Christian parents take seriously the responsibility to educate their children to grapple with the question of which education choice is best for them and their child. In my early days on the Caldwell Classical Christian Academy Board, many Christian parents asked why they should send their children to a Christian School. Here’s a reconstructed dialogue, from many different conversations, that introduces the purpose of this book.
Parent: “Why should I send my children to a Christian School like Caldwell Classical Christian Academy?”
Charlie: “The most important reason is that as a Christian parent you have a Biblical responsibility to see that your children are educated in ‘the faith based on the Bible.”
Parent: “I can send them to my local public school and teach them God’s Word when they are home with me.”
C: “They will be in school for 5-6 hours per day for a total of between 25 and 30 hours per week. You will need at least half that time to counter what they received in the classroom. Can you give each one 12-15 hours per week?”
P: “Why do I need so much time?”
C: “The foundation in public schools is the philosophy of Humanism, and it is opposed to Biblical Christianity in EVERY area. Look at this chart comparing both views in all areas of teaching.”
C: ‘When you educate your children with a Christian foundation you do not have to undo the Humanist teaching they receive in school. We assure you that here we will build on the Bible’s foundation to develop a Biblical worldview in your children, but we will not neglect to teach the corrupt nature of Humanism. For example, we will explain Biblical Creation and Atheistic Evolution, so they are prepared to challenge the anti-Christian attacks they WILL encounter as they mature. Like tellers in a bank trained to discern counterfeits by handling real money, we prepare students to test everything in the light of God’s Word. When parents inquired about enrolling in a school using the Christian Classical Education method we pointed them to read three books to understand the founding principles of Caldwell CCC Academy.”
