Classical Christian Education

Classical Christian Education
One of the most serious problems Christian parents face in the US today is the potential loss of their children’s faith when they leave home to go to work or attend college.  In 2012 I wrote a book, "My Children’s Christian Education, What Should I Do? A Christian Educators Analysis and Advice."  Designed to guide Christian parents to a Biblical view of their responsibility to educate their children.  In light of developments from 2020 to 2022, I will make all the content of this book available on this website.  If you want a hard copy, it is still available on Amazon and Kindle. If you want to read it on this site just follow the links in this section.

After many years, Charlie, known as a knowledgeable Christian Apologist, has had many parents call and say: "My son/daughter just came back from a semester or a year away and told me: 'Mom, Dad I don't believe in that Jesus stuff anymore.'"  For parents, this is heart-rending.  The first question parents ask is: "Why?"  Ken Ham and many others have written extensively on this topic, and the answer that comes up most is that the student did not have a firm foundation in WHY they believed what they believed.  Their education spent little or no time on Christian Apologetics. As early as the 1970s Francis Schaefer saw this problem of the lack of apologetic education for youth.  It became his primary purpose in founding the ministry at Labri.  http://www.labri.org

A Christian parent's primary responsibility to their children is to educate them in God's Word.  Both the Old and New Testaments teach us this and here are some verses that show this mandate.

Deuteronomy 6:7 “You shall teach them (God’s Word) diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
II Timothy 3:14-15 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned (God’s Word) and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it (his mother) and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
